To celebrate the launch of our new website, we thought it would be fabulous to celebrate some of the most exciting furniture designs, and designers of the 20th Century.

As well as picking out some of our favourite pieces, we share some of our own furniture designs of a similar style that might hit the spot in your garden or conservatory.

The Sofa Armchair, £525

We have chosen the Sofa Armchair as a garden alternative to the Spanish Chair by Borge Mogensen. With its gentle recline, and sumptuous cushions, it mirrors both the shape and the comfort of Mogensen’s delectable seat. It also has wide armrests, the perfect support if you are enjoying a tipple in the sunshine outside. While it isn’t made from oak, it is made from A-grade plantation teak – a weather resistant, and eco-aware hardwood alternative.

The Spanish Chair by Borge Mogensen, around £3,300 - Danish designer Borge Mogensen is known for creating furniture with clean lines, and his pieces are quintessential examples of modern Danish furniture design. The Spanish chair was inspired by a traditional chair found in ancient Islamic culture. He modernized the shape, removing all decorative elements and gave it a rustic feel with oak and leather after being inspired by furniture in Spain.

Hermione Day Bed, £1850.

The Hermione Day Bed is our outdoor alternative to the iconic Bubble Chair by Christian Daninos. We have chosen this because the canvas canopy emulates the open yet all-encompassing circular design of the Bubble Chair, providing a cocoon of privacy from which to enjoy a good book, while taking in the views. The day bed can be enjoyed as a full bed, or rearranged to provide extra seating and a coffee table, and is made from weatherproof wicker.

Bubble Chair by Christian Daninos, only available through collectors, est value £13,000 – The futuristic Plexiglas lounge chair by Daninos came onto the scene in 1968, shortly after the Ball Chair, designed by Eero Aarnio. Both designs were instantly inspirational, and highly sought after!

Verona Polished Concrete Table, £1125

The contemporary style of the Verona Polished Concrete Table is guaranteed to add some Va Va Voom to your garden, which is why we chose it as our outdoor alternative to the Reale Table by Carlo Mollino. Like the Reale, the Verona mixes its mediums, contrasting rustic wood with a highly polished slab of hardwearing industrial-esque concrete. Also like the Reale, it sports an eye-catching alternative style frame.

Reale Table by Carlo Mollino, around £2,800 – The Italian Industrial designer Mollino created what has come to be known as one of the most elegant and eccentric tables way back in 1946. As well as creating furniture good enough to be modernist works of art, Mollino turned his talents to architecture and designed some of the most celebrated buildings in his hometown, Turin.
