Teak is much sought-after for the rich, warm olive gold colouring of its untreated natural form. We love it because it is beautifully practical. Our ethically sourced fine sanded teak is kiln-dried to endure even the most exposed conditions.
Teak (Tectona grandis) is the jewel in the crown of the tropical species of trees in the Verbenaceae family. Its value is so great that it is often unsustainably farmed due to its unequivocal durability.
We love it because of its naturally hardwearing properties. It is highly resistant to rotting or damage from exposure to the elements such as frost, sun or even snow. Its superior strength makes it perfect for outdoor or high wear furniture. Teak is a close-grained hardwood with naturally high oil content, protecting the wood from the elements requiring less maintenance and making your furniture last for many years.
How are we making it sustainable?
We don't buy teak without an Indonesian Legal wood certificate. All of our teak is produced in sustainable forestry plantations. We're passionate about leaving the planet in a liveable state for our future grandchildren, and we won't support the business of harvesting trees from ancient woodland. Instead, we source from sustainable teak plantations, where the wood is kiln-dried, making it comparable in durability to timber with ancient growth.
